Mentoring Scheme
Our idea is simple, the majority of children who we work with see their Unstoppable Coach as a role model. What we do is benefit individuals on a one to one basis. For example, if a school identifies a child who they would like to be put on the unstoppable mentoring programme, then that coach would be utilised in or outside of the classroom to work with that child on subjects that they may be struggling with.
Benefits
The benefits for the child would be that they receive one on one mentoring, they will have a chance to express their feelings on the subject or matters that they struggle with, and they will be helped through with a variety of teaching methods.
At Unstoppable Sports we have an engagement tool that promotes positive behaviours through self evaluation and processing, for even the most difficult of children. It is a solution focused form of practice that is based upon the child personally showing the positive outcomes. Each child will be supported and guided by the mentor to encourage that it is in fact the child making the right decisions according to their strengths and area’s to improve.
Aim
The aim of the mentoring scheme is to help each child manage their behaviour in situations that previously would have ended in conflict. However the scheme is run to not only improve a child’s behaviour in and around school, but to help them with any learning barriers that they might have or aspects such as gaining more confidence and general life skills.
The children will be working on a one to one basis with the mentor, to help offer each individual child an opportunity to have a role model within the school, that they can feel a sense of trust and development with.
This is a model designed to work with what the school the school for the specific character of their children, whilst catering to the needs of the overall and general principles already set out.
